Another great day in NY City
First thing this morning we headed in to Manhattan to go to the top of the Empire State Building. We met up with Trevor’s friend Lauren again. It was neat to see the entire city from high in the sky :)! Off in the distance is the Statue of Liberty and it looks SO SMALL from up there. You could also see the large area that is Central Park very clearly. After this we headed to the far upper side of Central Park and took a long walk through the park. It was amazingly lush and woodsy for being right in the middle of the city.
You really can hardly tell you’re in the city from inside the park with the exception of a few clearings where you can see the tall buildings in the distance. We wandered down to Riverside Drive to find 152 Riverside Drive (if you’ve seen "You’ve Got Mail" as many times as I have – you’ll know what I’m talking about) – but, that address doesn’t exist – bummer! However, on a positive note, along the way we stopped at a local pizza joint for lunch and had the most heavenly piece of pizza I’ve ever had – so I guess it was worth it.
Tonight we hit the Dodgers vs. Mets game at Shea Stadium. This was not only special because the Dodgers were in town – but this is the final season for Shea Stadium. Right next to Shea there is a new stadium being built (Citi Field) that will open for the 2009 season. Then, Shea will be torn down.
Unfortunately our seats weren’t the greatest and my boys in blue let us down on the field, but all in all it was a great experience to visit Shea Stadium during the final season.
